Informativa sulla privacy · Privacy Policy
Ultimo aggiornamento: 29 settembre 2026
In breve.

In short. Burro has no accounts, shows no ads, uses no analytics or tracking tools, and has no servers of its own. The developer neither receives nor keeps any of your data.
Burro is developed by Giancarlo Viali. For any question about this policy: burro@giancarloviali.it.
What you log — meals, your own foods, goals, preferences, profile name and photo — stays on the device and, if iCloud is on, syncs between your devices through your own private iCloud database. That database belongs to your Apple Account: the developer cannot read it. Its handling is governed by Apple's iCloud privacy policy.
Weight, height, date of birth and sex stay on the device only and are never uploaded to iCloud.
If you allow it, Burro reads active calories, resting energy, weight, height, date of birth and sex from the Health app, to work out how many calories you are burning. Data read from Health, and what the app works out from it — such as the metabolism correction — stays on the device: it is not uploaded to iCloud, not sent to anyone, and not used for advertising. Burro writes nothing to Health. You can revoke access at any time in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices.
If several apps record your activity and you pick which one to count, that choice syncs with your other preferences through your private iCloud: it is the app's name, not its data.
Where Apple Intelligence is available, Burro uses the language model running on the device to suggest a new food's category and to read a meal written in words. The food's name or the meal's text stay on the phone: they are sent neither to Apple nor to the developer. If you dictate the meal to Siri, your voice is handled by Siri like any other request, under Apple's privacy policy.
When you scan a barcode or search for a product by name, Burro sends the code or the search words to Open Food Facts, a free food product database run by the French association of the same name, to receive the nutrition values. As with any internet connection, the request also carries the device's IP address and the app's name. No identifier of yours and no other diary data is sent. Open Food Facts' handling is governed by their own policy: world.openfoodfacts.org/privacy.
Burro Plus is bought through the App Store. Apple handles the payment entirely: the developer never sees or receives your payment method, your address or your Apple Account. The app only knows whether the purchase is active on this device.
In Settings → Your data you'll find two things: the export — your diary as CSV and a complete JSON archive, which you can save or send wherever you like — and deletion, which empties the diary alone or everything, on this device and on iCloud.
Deleting the app removes the data on the device. To remove the iCloud copy as well: system Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage → Burro.
Burro is not intended for people under 18, and asks for a date of birth at least eighteen years ago.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this same address, with the update date at the top.
